【閑話休題】雪の妖精、シマエナガの来訪/ Visit of the Snow Fairy: Shima-enaga
冬の気配が深まる頃、小さな白い影が森の中からひょっこり姿を見せ始めます。
ふわりと雪玉のような姿をした“シマエナガ”。北海道では“雪の妖精”と呼ばれ、冬のはじまりを告げる存在として親しまれています。
当館周辺でも稀に姿を見せることがありますが、ご覧いただける機会は限られており、遭遇された際は季節の一端に触れる貴重な瞬間となります。
見られる時期は概ね12月から3月頃、時間帯としては早朝が最も可能性が高いと言われています。窓辺や庭木をそっと眺めると、一瞬だけ現れて森へ戻っていく姿に出会えることがあります。
冬は静けさの季節ですが、こうした小さな来訪者が運んでくる余韻が、寒さの中に温かさを添えてくれます。

As winter deepens, tiny white figures occasionally emerge from the surrounding forests.
The Shima-enaga, affectionately known in Hokkaido as the “snow fairy,” is regarded as a quiet harbinger of the season.
Although sightings around our property do occur, opportunities to observe them are limited, and such encounters offer a brief yet valuable glimpse into the season.
They are generally seen between December and March, most often in the early morning. With a gentle gaze toward the trees or garden, you may witness their fleeting appearance before they vanish back into the woods.
Winter brings silence and cold, yet these delicate visitors add a subtle warmth and sense of wonder to the landscape.
